Be Heard

Each week, Scene gives Mavericks the chance to be heard by voicing their thoughts, feelings and opinions.

Hala Mustafa,
Biology sophomore

What qualities make a hero?

I think a hero would have to be wise, understanding, compassionate. I’m trying to think of my dad. He’s my hero.

Which century would you like to have lived in?

1800s. That seemed interesting, how the people were at that time. There’s a lot of interesting stuff about that time.

Besides food and water, what could you not live without?

Lip gloss or ChapStick. I can’t stand having chapped lips.

What are your thoughts on ghosts?

They’re really interesting. I do believe in them. We’re always among spirits. They don’t have to be scary.

If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do today?

Be a better person. I think I’d be more religious.

What could you eat every day for the rest of your life?

A six-inch turkey-on-wheat-bread (sandwich) with everything on it and ranch dressing — toasted.

What movie can you quote the most lines from?

I can’t really quote any movies.

What’s the most nerve-wracking thing you’ve ever done?

I don’t really ever get that nervous. I am always striving to stay calm.

Chris Overal,
Mechanical Engineering senior

What qualities make a hero?

Just selflessness.

Which century would you like to have lived in?

Now, because I like fast food.

Besides food and water, what could you not live without?

Pants.

What are your thoughts on ghosts?

They’re possible.

If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do today?

Nothing. I would take the day off.

What could you eat every day for the rest of your life?

Tortillas.

What movie can you quote the most lines from?

Old School. I got it for my birthday.

What’s the most nerve-wracking thing you’ve ever done?

Public speeches in front of a huge auditorium.
