Music Review
All Inferior
Artist’s latest isn’t horrible but lacks the variety to
make it great

If you’re looking for a new artist that expresses your deepest thoughts
symbolicly, Mike Errico isn’t it.
His recent release, All In, is a lengthy stream of emotions and elementary-style
instrumentals.
If you prefer lyrics that are short and easy to remember, this is the
album for you. Many lines are repeated in songs, and each has some sort
of dead-air.
The artist does have a very smooth voice that is quite relaxing to listen
to — maybe a little too relaxing- — which rocks you to sleep.
Yet the songs are filled with intense emotions, making it obvious that
the artist felt them strongly at some point.
In “OK To Go” Errico’s voice is rich and powerful, and
the smooth melody nicely complements the mood the lyrics aim to set.
“Girlfriend Weather” uniquely portrays Errico’s life
as he waits to discover that perfect girl. Not the usual love-hungry song,
the artist is confident his girl will come “any day now” and
that dark skies won’t stand in his way.
The mood U-turns as “Packing My Bags” illustrates a broken
heart giving up on the individual who “still can’t see me
yet.” The simple guitar rhythms and the slow drum beat provide an
emotional sequence of instrumentals.
“You Could Be Anywhere” is the perfect song for people starting
to lose hope that there is someone out there for them. The slow rhythm
of the guitar hums behind the artist crying out “high and low, I’m
searching, but I just don’t know, and you could be anywhere.”
By the time you arrive at the last song, “Better Here,” you
realize that every song is almost exactly alike – an emotional song
about a lover not there, a guitar repetitively playing two or three notes
if you’re lucky, and lyrics that are only a few lines long.
The album might have improved drastically if all the songs had been thrown
into one great song resulting in an amazing single, but the artist seems
content singing, “I guess it’s better here than where I’ve
been.”
Errico’s latest is nothing to rush out to buy, but if you happen
to come across it along your busy path in life, take a moment to listen
to the artist’s smooth vocals and just relax.
