Training camp starts soon for Maverick Football Club
The Maverick Football Club will begin training camp Aug. 1, said club
vice president James Honeycutt, finance junior and offensive coordinator
for the team.
He said practices will run from Aug. 1 to 3 and from Aug. 8 to 10. Both
camps will be at 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The team includes 25 returning players and about 10 new players, he said.
Two of the returning players, Mark Frisk and Bret Kuni, were Texas United
Football League All-Stars last season.
The team will be led by a new head coach, James Hayden, who was the Arlington
Independent School District athletic director for 20 years.
The first scrimmage is Aug. 23 against Austin College, and the first game
will be a home game Nov. 1, also against Austin College.
Two games have been scheduled for Sept. 1 and Nov. 17.
All Maverick Football Club home games are played at Maverick Stadium.
