Be Heard

Each week, Scene gives Mavericks the chance to be heard by voicing their thoughts, feelings and opinions.

Marshall Harry,
Information Systems senior

What are your thoughts on public transportation?

The advantage is you don’t have to waste money on gas.

What are your thoughts on the discovery that another planet could possibly contain or sustain life?

I’m like my dad right now. I say leave that planet alone, and it will leave us alone. I’m alright with Earth. I’m alright with just being down here.

What superhero can beat all the rest?

Wolverine. He seems more human than the rest. I like him. Superman looks fake. Wolverine is more realistic. Spiderman, he’s too fake too.

What’s the greatest book you’ve ever read?

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. It taught me about the old days of African culture.

What’s your biggest fear?

That’s a good question. I don’t think I’m scared of anything. I don’t have any fears.

Ivy Zheng,
Biology sophomore

What are your thoughts on public transportation?

Well the advantages would be for people who don’t have a car. I actually don’t see a lot of disadvantages. I’m really concerned for people with lower incomes. It’s not fair to assume they have a car.

What are your thoughts on the discovery that another planet could possibly contain or sustain life?

I’m not really interested in physics and this. I feel like humans are just messing up this planet, and we don’t need to mess up another. Maybe we should all die like the dinosaurs and go extinct. We should get what we deserve. It might be good.

What superhero can beat all the rest?

I don’t believe in superheroes. If I said anything, it would be God.

What’s the greatest book you’ve ever read?

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. It’s just something that makes me think about my life as a whole.

What’s your biggest fear?

If one day I die and have a lot of money and didn’t do anything to help people, what a waste.
