Be Heard
Each week, Scene gives Mavericks the chance to be heard by voicing their
thoughts, feelings and opinions.

Kris Hackworth,
business management junior
What is the biggest issue in the world right now?
Probably the whole war issue.
If you could tell a professor anything, what would you say?
That all students are capable of learning, just sometimes different methods
are needed.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
The power of healing.
Is 21 the right legal age to drink alcohol?
Well, I guess, but it doesn’t really matter to me because I reached
it.
What do you wish you knew before you started college?
How to truly study and not procrastinate.

Tim Merkin,
electrical engineering graduate student
What is the biggest issue in the world right now?
The threat of terrorism.
If you could tell a professor anything, what would you say?
To the electrical engineering professors: Thanks for taking a huge pay
cut to teach me!
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
The ability to bestow superpowers.
Is 21 the right legal age to drink alcohol?
Yes.
What do you wish you knew before you started college?
That professors actually want graduate student researchers even though
they give the impression that they don’t.

Rashmi Sangel,
biomedical engineering graduate student
What is the biggest issue in the world right now?
In my opinion, financial problems.
If you could tell a professor anything, what would you say?
I would like to say to him or her to assist me. To clear all my doubts
related to the course, so that I can bring up an excellent grade point
average.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I would think, the fulfillment of every wish and dream I hoped for.
Is 21 the right legal age to drink alcohol?
No.
What do you wish you knew before you started college?
Before starting college, I wish I would have had the skill of making right
decisions in tough situations.
