Mavericks end season with losses
Team taking this season as a learning experience, planning for next
year.

The Mavericks baseball team ended the season on a sour note, losing
their final five games, two at home and the final three away.
A wild pitch in the ninth inning of the final game allowed the winning
run to cross the plate for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Mavericks finished the season 13-40 in overall action and 4-26 in
Southland Conference play.
Reiterating what they have said in other interviews, head coach Jeff Curtis
and associate head coach Darin Thomas told The Shorthorn via phone that
the Mavs took this season as a learning experience and are building up
a team that will return to UTA’s winning ways next season.
Both coaches agreed that no team, no matter how dominant, can record a
winning season year after year and that the coaches, players and fans
have to take the good with the bad and learn from mistakes so that they
may improve as individual players and as a team next season.
The seven seniors on the team pushed their individual accomplishments
to the forefront to finish their UTA career on a high note, adding some
last-game flair to the seniors and juniors, who are looking to get drafted
or scouted by Major League teams.
Just like the coaches, the players returning next season agree they have
learned from this losing season, are building on it every day and expect
to see a better, stronger team take the field in 2008
