Gee earns third SLC weekly pitching honor
Mavericks pitcher Dillon Gee was named the Aeropostale Southland
Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The honor is Gee’s first
of the season and third of his career.
His performance against Northwestern State over the weekend sealed the
award as he threw 92 pitches in a game shutout. He allowed only four base
runners on three hits in the game and struck out 10.
Jared Pitts of Stephen F. Austin State received the other award for baseball
this week, being named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Hitter of the
Week. After a slow start, Pitts picked up the pace later in the week, going
5-5 on Saturday against Nicholls State. Two of his five hits were home runs,
including a three-run shot and a grand slam. He set an SFA record with eight
RBIs in the game.
