Just So You Know…

The Denver Broncos are not going to sue us.

The Shorthorn was finally able to get a hold of someone at Broncos headquarters to ask if we should expect to see heads rolling over the university’s new mascot.

Steve Harbula, Senior Director of Marketing Communications for the Denver Broncos Football Club, compared their Bronco to the new Maverick, and said he was hard pressed for comments.

“A horse is a horse,” Harbula said. “[The Maverick is] facing in opposite directions. The lines are different, the ears are different. It’s pretty distinctly different.”

Harbula said the colors make it seem similar, but overall he saw nothing to raise a fist at.

“We have seen some obvious rip-offs, and this is not one of those,” he said.

Casting Call

Once again, another reality show is coming to the Metroplex in search of fresh meat — er, talent.

Casting directors from “Beauty and the Geek” will be in Dallas this Saturday to look for people interested in participating in the show’s fourth season. The session lasts from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Milo Butterfinger’s, located at 5645 Yale Blvd. That’s just down from Southern Methodist University, across Central Expressway.

‘Mars’ Returns

While you readers are apparently apathetic concerning your favorite television shows being in danger of going off the air forever, [we received zero emails on the subject, thank you] Split Ends isn’t.

One of our favorite’s that always finds itself on the bubble each May is “Veronica Mars,” which returns tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.

Percy Daggs, who plays Wallace, was in Dallas recently for the All Star Celebrity Slam Jam.

“We’ll find out in May if we’re coming back for a fourth season,” Daggs said. “Hopefully... [crosses fingers] hopefully.”

Daggs said those who have been in pain waiting for new episodes while the Pussycat Dolls were searching for another member have much to look forward to.

“Our season finale is the best one so far, it’s really good,” Daggs said. He also said that his character will be getting even deeper into the action in the remaining episodes.

“I’ll be in them a lot more. A lot more. Especially in the season finale, I have some really incredible scenes.”
