Random pieces of news from all spectrums of entertainment to keep you in the know.

Just So You Know…

Forget “American Idol,” there are other things in danger of elimination.

This year saw many new television sitcoms and dramas grab their slice of success, including ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” starring the beautiful America Ferrera (above). While “Betty,” NBC’s “30 Rock” with Tracy Morgan (left) and some others have been given the green light already for next year, many of your favorites remain on the bubble. Even some that have been successful for a while, like NBC’s “Scrubs.”

“We finished a couple of weeks ago, actually,” star Donald Faison said.

When asked if his show would be returning again, Faison was a bit unsure.

“It looks like it,” he said. “We’ll see.”

With his show and others, like Split Ends faves “Veronica Mars” and “How I Met Your Mother” [with Neil Patrick Harris shown right] sitting too close to the chopping block for comfort, we take this opportunity to reach you, the university. Tell us what TV show you couldn’t live without, one where hearing its title and the word “cancelled” would call for damage of some sorts.

You can try to reach the networks on your own, but Split Ends will do it for you. Just send your pleas to features-editor.shorthorn@uta.edu ASAP, before the network execs prepare for advertising upfronts in May.

Hope to hear from you,
Split Ends

Makeovers Remembered

While you’re writing us, you can help us with another mission.

We’ve been looking for the best-furnished, most-fresh-to-death dorm rooms on campus. You put in all the work to make your space your own, and then you have to destroy your creation and move on.

If you think you’ve got a pad worthy of MTV’s “Cribs,” e-mail us at features-editor.shorthorn@uta.edu. You may find your room immortalized — on paper.
