Just So You Know…
We might end up with a horse’s head in our bed for this, but...
We’d like to give thanks for the sneak preview we received of what
could become our spiffy new mascot last Wednesday, less than a week before
a likely still-unaware student body votes on whether it will officially
replace Sam Maverick.
Then there were various student leaders on Facebook decrying students’
displeasure with the image. Maybe, just maybe, if there had been more
time for review, or better yet, more than one option, there would be less
fuss. Or maybe that’s just us.
Oh, and officials with the Denver Broncos couldn’t be reached for
comment Monday, but they are now aware of the situation. Just a heads
up, to whom it may concern.
Sincerely,
Split Ends
On the Download
Split Ends was happy to hear the song this past weekend, but we’re
glad Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch blog pointed out that Kelly
Clarkson’s new single “Never Again” is streaming online
at http://music.aol.com. It may be another sad, angry Clarkson song, but
it’s hot, and leaves you desperately awaiting her new CD My December.
Clarkson once again packs some powerful lyrics. We give it a B+.
AOL was also streaming Avril Lavigne’s latest The Best Damn Thing,
but we’ll save our thoughts on that for a more in-depth review.
On the Campaign Trail
As the race for the Oval Office heats up, the candidates are beginning
to be hit with pressing questions.
Take for instance Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. The Associated Press reports
that during a radio call-in segment, a listener asked the senator what
the U.S. can do about Sanjaya Malakar, the “American Idol”
finalist. More loathed than loved, Malakar continues to avoid the ax on
the hit show.
“That’s the best question I’ve been asked in a long
time,” Clinton said. “Well, you know, people can vote for
whomever they want. That’s true in my election, and it’s true
on ‘American Idol.’ ”
