In My Head

The Shins New Album Never Fails, Never Disappoints

Our new series, In My Head shows what Shorthorn staffers are listening to.

No matter how sad I may be, The Shins will cure me.

After the release of their latest album, Wincing the Night Away, I’ve found myself listening to little else.

James Mercer’s voice never ceases to amaze me, and “Sleeping Lessons” and “Turn on Me” serve as frequent background noise as I walk to class, work on stories or write in my journals.

I must admit that their latest single, “Phantom Limb,” wasn’t a favorite of mine right away. It took a couple of weeks for the song to grow on me, but now that it has, I’m happy to say that I can call it one of the best on the album.
