The final phase of the Maverick Activities Center construction is expected to be completed February 2008. The recreation facility will include an indoor soccer gymnasium, racquetball, and badminton courts.
Phase one of the Maverick Activities Center will be completed and ready for use by Sept. 13, said Frank Lamas, Student Affairs vice president.

Paint, carpeting and other details have also been decided, he said.

The $34.5 million structure includes of 92,300 square feet of space.

Phase one includes an 80,400 square foot addition, which is being built now, and phase two includes the renovation of the older parts of the center. Phase two completion is expected in February 2008.

“This facility is as good as anyone would have in the country,” Lamas said. “Most campuses that build new facilities like this triple the number of people using that building.”
