These programs were not in jeopardy of losing funds. Mav Mover, the Saturday shuttle bus program, may still run next year, and funding proposals for Renegade Magazine may be reviewed by SSFAC next year.APRIL 27, 2006 In Wednesday’s story “Funds cut for student magazine,” public relations senior Zach Walker’s name was misspelled.In the same story, Student Publications Director Lloyd Goodman should have been quoted as saying, “I will be working with the editors and get with students to see what they liked and didn’t like about the magazine and draw up a new plan.” APRIL 21, 2006 Thursday’s story “Master plan update to add 3.7 million acres by 2060” and its headline should have stated that the university hopes to add 5.5 million square feet to the campus by 2060.In the photo caption on Thursday’s Sports page, second baseman Daniel Rieder was misidentified. Thursday’s story “Get a Campus Life” should have stated that O.K. Carter’s title is Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist and associate publisher. APRIL 19, 2006 In Tuesday’s issue, the Campus Brief

Tuesday’s story, “Good Advice,” should have stated that Alisha Tysor is a member of the Leadership Academy and has been promoted to the Freshman Interests Groups lead peer counselor. APRIL 5, 2006 In Tuesday’s story “Parade starts International Week’s diversity celebration,” biology junior Huong Duong’s name was misspelled. APRIL 4, 2006 Wednesday’s story, “Department shows chamber prototype” should have stated that the department displayed the prototype at Angelo State University. Friday’s story “Laugh those tickets away” should have stated that the Grand Opening of Nu School will be Monday April 3 and that classes are offered at 11 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. MARCH 31, 2006 Thursday’s Scene story, “Taxing Times,” should have stated that Jack Rankin’s accounting office is in Bedford, Texas. The campus brief on Wednesday’s page two, “Career event sponsored by Lockheed Martin held today,” and its headline should have stated that the event would be held Thursday. MARCH 28, 2006 Friday’s opinion article “Can’t Take a Joke?” should have stated that the character Chef’s lines in the latest “South Park” episode were phrases spoken by Isaac Hayes in past shows pieced together. MARCH 24, 2006 Thursday’s story “Spaniolo, guest discuss freedom of press” should have stated that the Supreme Court chose not to hear Margaret Hosty’s appeal of the 7th Circuit Court’s ruling against her in her suit against Patricia Carter, a Governors State University dean. In Thursday’s page 7 photo caption, Mike Reiss’ name was misspelled. MARCH 23, 2006 Wednesday’s story “Markers will indicate historical buildings on campus” should not have stated that Ransom and Preston halls have state historical markers. Tuesday’s story “Student Affairs appoints new vice presidents” should have stated that Jeff Sorensen, Mardie Sorensen and Doug Kuykendall are now assistant vice presidents. Pat O’Neill is already an assistant vice president. The story’s headline should have stated that assistant vice presidents were appointed. MARCH 22, 2006 In Tuesday’s story “Student Affairs appoints new vice presidents,” the names of Jeff Sorensen, Student Governance and Organizations director; and Pat O’Neill, assistant vice president for Student Affairs, were misspelled. The story should have also stated that Student Affairs appointed new assistant vice presidents. MARCH 9, 2006 In Tuesday’s paper, the caption with the photo in the top-left corner should have identified the man as Vance Bagwell of the Three Rivers Foundation. MARCH 8, 2006 Tuesday’s sports story “Mavericks knock out Cowgirls” should have stated the Mavericks won a quarterfinal game. MARCH 7, 2006 Friday’s story “Dedication ceremony today” should have stated that classes have been held in the Chemistry and Physics Building since January 2006. Friday's story and editorial on the Opinion page should have stated that all planetarium shows will cost $2 for UTA students, $3 for faculty and staff and $4 for senior citizens and children. FEBRUARY 16, 2006 Tuesday’s article “Lady Mavs nab championship” should have stated that Laura Jones pitched in the softball team’s win over Hawaii. Tuesday’s story “New brand to be revealed” should have stated that the UTA Drumline would take part in the celebration. Wednesday’s article “Technology funds to be distributed” should have stated that Jeff Sorensen is the director of Student Governance and Organizations. FEBRUARY 10, 2006 Wednesday’s article, “Same Race, Different Continents” should have stated that political science junior Apuk Ayuel said African-Americans and Africans have a false perception of each other’s culture due to stereotyping from the media and lack of knowledge. The article should have also stated that Ayuel said, “In Sudan, we faced ethnic discrimination that is parallel to the African-American experience, although in most African countries they have not experienced any racism.” The article should have also stated that Ayuel said, “I see no incentive for African-Americans to associate themselves with Africa.” The article should have also stated that Ayuel said Africans in general are offended when they are called African-Americans because African-Americans cling to their American roots. FEBRUARY 9, 2006 Wednesday’s Calendar item, “UTA Hillel Weekly Meeting” should have stated that Hillel meetings are held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays in 007 University Hall. FEBRUARY 7, 2006 Thursday’s brief “Clothing and blanket drive for Mission Arlington today” should have stated that Jacob Smith is a physics senior and president of the Society of Physics Students. Friday’s article “Graduate assistants tuition discussed” should have stated that Provost Dana Dunn said federal funding for graduate students is declining. FEBRUARY 3, 2006 Thursday’s article, “Murder suspect was ‘nice guy’ ” should have stated Ryan Stalmach and Kyle Johnson grew up in Grand Prairie. FEBRUARY 1, 2006 Tuesday’s campus brief, “Business college hosts job fair Wednesday, Thursday” should have stated that the College of Business Administration will host a job fair for Marketing Research students on Thursday and Friday. JANUARY 31, 2006 In Wednesday’s sports page, the summary for the story “Glory Days” should have stated that UTA’s senior associate athletic director worked with Don Haskins. The Jan. 24 headline “Assistant chief will resign” should have stated that the assistant police chief will retire. In Tuesday’s column “B. Laddy Turns Out the Hits,” a reference to an airline should have been to the hip-hop group NWA. Friday’s story, “Mavs victorious after second-half comeback” should have stated that guard Rodrick Epps had 19 minutes and forward Larry Posey had 14 minutes. In the photo caption on Friday’s Sports page, Erin Dixon’s name was misspelled. JANUARY 27, 2006 Wednesday’s story “Colony, council clash on national bylaws” should have stated that Julie Murphy is the assistant director of Student Activities in Greek Life. JANUARY 25, 2006 In Tuesday’s article “Teams don’t finish on top,” William Kinsley should have been identified as a political science junior. JANUARY 24, 2006 Friday’s story “Grading decision to be made in 2 weeks” should have stated that the final decision on the Plus Minus grading system would be made within two weeks from Friday’s date, Jan. 20. The time frame was misidentified in the story. The story “Mavs dominate with fast start” in the Jan. 17 issue should have stated that the Mavericks women’s basketball team’s record over the break was 9-3. JANUARY 20, 2006 On Wednesday's Sports page, the article "Mavs sign runner from Fort Worth high school" should have stated that Armando Saldivar signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period in November. JANUARY 19, 2006 Russell Nahvi’s name was misspelled in Tuesday’s “Brothers in Arms” story on the Scene page. |
