Mechanical Information

ELECTRONIC FILES

For camera-ready ads and artwork.
• The Shorthorn prefers camera-ready files be in Acrobat PDF/X-1a format. All fonts must be embedded, including basic fonts. TIFF, JPEG or EPS files can be used. We also support files created in these software programs:

- Adobe InDesign CS2 or lower
- QuarkXPress 4.1 or lower
- Adobe Photoshop CS2 or lower
- Adobe Illustrator CS2 or lower
- Adobe Acrobat 7.0 or lower

• To assure quality work, please include the original files of artwork and all fonts used. If artwork is created in Illustrator convert fonts to outlines.
• For color files in Photoshop, save in CMYK mode at 200-300 dpi. Save black and white files in grayscale mode also at 200-300 dpi.
• Files can be received on Zip 100 disks and CDs.
• Line screen is 85 lpi.
• Files created in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are accepted but not Publisher. A PDF generated from these programs is preferred.
• Files may be sent electronically to ads.shorthorn@uta.edu.

TABLOIDS

Some special sections and special issues are published in tabloid format. Page size may vary. Average page length is 13 inches.

DEADLINES

Deadlines are subject to change with 30 days notice. Early deadlines will be established for special sections, special issues and special advertising features. Those deadlines will be provided to advertisers with information about each promotion. Camera ready artwork must be received 2 days prior to publication at
3 p.m.

LATE ADVERTISEMENTS

Late advertisements will be accepted as time permits, under these terms:
• For ads and/or copy accepted and produced after deadline, a fee of 25% of the ad cost may be added.
• Proofs will not be provided for ads accepted after deadline.
• Changes after deadline $15/hour ($15 minimum charge).

SIZE/DEPTH REQUIREMENTS

• Ad depth in inches will be rounded up to the nearest half-inch and charged accordingly
• Broadsheet ad 17.5 inches or more in depth will be run at the full page depth (21 inches) and charged accordingly
• Tabloid ad 10.5 inches or more in depth will be run at the full-page depth (12.5 inches) and charged accordingly
