CORRECTIONS | UPDATED DEC. 06, 02

Wednesday’s story “Chinese choir to present holiday special,” should have said the event will be on Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday’s story “Senators postpone language decision” should have said a revision of the modern languages department’s proposal was based on collective efforts of department staff, not President Robert Witt’s advice. The misstatement was due to incorrect information provided to The Shorthorn.

Tuesday’s story “Official pushes for bus upgrade” should have stated that UTA did not purchase a wheelchair accessibility bus for $250,000. The bus referred to in the article is for demonstration purposes only and does not belong to UTA.

Tuesday’s story “Lady Mavs reach top in game four,” should have stated the championship game was played Saturday.

Wednesday’s story “5 win engineering seats” should have listed Usman Tareen and Khawaja Nazim as two of the five new engineering senators.

In the photo caption with Thursday’s story “Security, new media topics at fair,” Michael Youngblood was misidentified.

Tuesday’s story “Regents assess funding proposal” should have stated the amount a repair project must cost before it needs UT-System Board of Regents approval is $2 million.

Tuesday’s campus brief “’Smart home’ technology presentation scheduled” should have said the presentation is Nov. 21.

In Tuesday’s story “SC will review dropped degrees,” SC Secretary Josh Warren was misidentified.

Due to incorrect information given to The Shorthorn, Derrick Obasohan’s and Luka Jaukovic’s names were misspelled and Kashayla Hawkins mug shot was incorrect in Tuesday’s special section, UTA Hoops Forecast.

The caption for Monday’s story “Frost concedes race to Pelosi,” misidentified Rep. Martin Frost’s U.S. House of Representatives district. He represents District 24.

Tuesday’s story “Cherokee speaker slated for Native American month” should have said the event will be today at noon in the Honors College Library in College Hall.

Wednesday’s story “Perseverance, community activity focus of lecture” should have stated Paul Loeb says that in order to stand on an issue, one doesn’t have to know everything about it.

The box accompanying Tuesday’s story “2 events added to annual week” should have said the Science Week event called Science Professional will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the University Center’s upper level.

Thursday’s Scene story “Dumping Her to Find ‘Him’self” misidentified undeclared sophomore John Adams.

Wednesday’s story “Congress passes new resolutions” should have stated that Campus Recreation officials will propose at next Tuesday’s meeting a 10 percent increase per student in recreational sports fees. Student Congress did not adopt a resolution on that matter.

Also, a parking space resolution adopted in committee meetings states that parking spaces across from Pickard Hall designated for an infant lab program haven’t been used since spring 2001 and should revert to student parking, but the Psychology Department started a program for high school students this fall and wants to use the space.

The article also should have stated that the UT System Board of Regents is reconsidering rules regarding financial institutions on system campuses.

Tuesday’s story, “Online degree attracts students,” should have stated the enrollment numbers are preliminary and were released from the College of Liberal Arts.

The photo accompanying Friday’s story “Research leads to snake discovery” misidentified Interim Biology Chair J.A. Campbell.

The graphic accompanying Thursday’s story “Increase largest since fall 1991” should have said that only minority enrollment increased by 1,118.

The photo accompanying Friday’s story “Screening applies to new hires” misidentified Julie Alexander, Libraries associate director.

<Clarification>
Wednesday’s story “New lab to open Sept. 30” should have stated that architecture graduate student Bryan Hartline said the AutoCad 2000 program was put on three computers in the architecture computer lab by a student.

Thursday’s story “Council’s fall lineup includes game show” should have said Valerie Woodard is a graduate teaching assistant.

Friday’s story “Jasper hate crime to be reflected” should have said Joyce King will discuss her new book about the 1998 Texas murder Friday.

Tuesday’s story, “Graduates say 3-D program is an essential,” should have stated that the Civil and Environmental Engineering department has 27 computers with AutoCAD 2000 software.

<Clarification>
Tuesday’s story, “Students present concerns at forum,” should have stated that Lewis Crow, the civil and environmental engineering computer support specialist, said only that the department’s labs are reserved for students taking those classes. Architecture students said they have tried to get into the labs, which has computers with AutoCAD 2000 software.

In Tuesday’s “Seminar to alert women,” Mike Johnson and the University Martial Arts Association were misidentified. Also, the seminar will be from 8 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 19.

<Clarification>
In Friday’s “Students ignore lot signs,” Field Services Lt. Nan Rhodes said there are five parking spaces south of the Business Building in lot 46 only for residents of College Oaks apartments.
