Disabilities office relocates to
University Hall this week
The Students With Disabilities Office will move from the University
Center to University Hall on Thursday and Friday to be closer to
the Adaptive Resource Center in Rooms 102 and 103.
The office will be closed Thursday through Monday.
Dianne Hengst, assistant dean of students and disability services
director, said the move will improve direct services and safety
for students with disabilities.
“One of the best issues is we’re going from the basement
to the first floor,” she said.
Dr. Hengst said she is excited about being in the University Hall
among academia, as well as closer to the center.
“It won’t be as cumbersome,” she said. “It
will also improve communication among the disability staff.”
Burt Brinegar, Adaptive Resource Center coordinator, said the move
will bring more visibility to the department and may increase the
number of students utilizing the center’s services.

Gays, Lesbians and Everyone Else group to hold meeting
The Gays, Lesbians and Everyone Else organization will hold its
weekly meeting at noon today in 101 Preston Hall.
The organization seeks to improve the quality of life for all its
members through social, political and service functions and welcomes
anyone with an open mind to join.
The goal of today’s meeting is to continue organizing and
setting up the semester’s activities.
An annual membership fee of $5 is required to join and participate
in events.
Members are encouraged to attend the weekly Gay Roller Blade/Skate
Night from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Forum Roller
World in Grand Prairie.
“Over 100 people attend,” Adviser Greg Bateson said.
“It’s for people to meet, and it’s healthy. It’s
exercise.”
The organization also hosts a Friday night social event for members
from 7 to 10 p.m. in 148 Fine Arts Building.
This provides another chance for students to be active if they can’t
attend the Wednesday meetings.
“[The events and meetings] are generally to get to know people
and to get a network of friends outside the bars,” Bateson
said.
