Dirty Lesson
Students should show their enthusiasm
for all school event
Students pulled out their grubby clothes and gathered friends to
make teams for the 16th annual Oozeball tournament Friday. The university
doesn’t have many traditions, but Oozeball is one that students
enjoy and look forward to every year. If students participate in
other events on the same level, they could see the same outcome.
Oozeball is a tradition in which people can have a great time whether
they participate or not. Students have just as much fun watching
their classmates fall face first in the mud as the players falling
in the mud do. This year’s Mud Stomp and Oozeball tournament
weren’t any different, as students enjoyed it just as much
as in past years.
Money raised from the event went toward funding the Student Alumni
Association Sophomore Scholarship, and funds raised beyond the scholarship
amount went to the Red Cross for hurricane relief. Those who participated
not only contributed to the excitement of the event but helped in
funding the scholarship and hurricane relief and are thanked for
it.
One of the reasons Oozeball is such a success is because of the
large number of students that take part and respond to it. If students
participated in other university events like they do in Oozeball,
they could attract the same amount of spirit, fun and unity. Sporting
events or even organization-sponsored events could achieve this
level of enjoyment if students participate on a level they do for
Oozeball.
Campus events such as volleyball games, basketball games and EX.C.E.L.
Campus Activities movie nights are examples of when students could
come together to have a great time and help continue university
traditions.
Plus, at these events students won’t have to worry about getting
their favorite jeans muddy.

round-up
The issue:
Oozeball is a great UTA tradition.
We suggest:
Students should participate in other UTA events with
the same amount of enthusiasm.
