Chests to raise money for breast cancer awareness
Five-gallon water jugs with pictures of men’s chests sat on
the Central Library mall Tuesday morning to raise money for Breast
Cancer Awareness Month.
As its philanthropy project for the year, the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority
is holding a Best Chest contest. People put money in the jug with
the picture they consider the best looking. Whichever jug holds
the most money by the end of the week will win the title of Best
Chest at UTA.
Among the contestants is Dan, the Sigma Chi duck, who was in the
lead Tuesday.
Public relations junior Melanie Podzielinski, Zeta Tau Alpha president,
said that this was the first Best Chest contest.
The project will last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Thursday on
the Central Library mall.
She said that this is a good way to make a difference.
“It can only make you feel great, “ she said. “It
feels good to know that you’re educating and letting people
be aware.”

Groups to remind students of war
in Iraq with sit-in
University Democrats and the Student Peace Action Network will honor
the death of the 2,000th U.S. soldier from the war in Iraq at 12:15
p.m. today on the Central Library mall.
The organizations will show their concern in a “peaceful way”
by posting signs and staging a sit-in because University Democrats
President Heidi Anderson said the death of 2,000 soldiers says it
all. The history senior said the event is to remind students of
the war in Iraq.
“Just because things are business as usual in Arlington doesn’t
mean soldiers aren’t dying every day,” she said.
