Campus Briefs
Flu shots now available for entire
campus community
Students, faculty, staff and their children over 17 years old may
receive flu shots on campus for $15.
Shots will be administered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the
Central Library mall and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in the University
Center Palo Duro Lounge. Shots are also given at the health center.
Patients may pay with cash, check or Mav Express card.
Vaccines are available through a Health Services annual outreach
program. Shelli Ogburn, health center communication assistant, said
the program was not offered last year because of a flu vaccine shortage.
She said that, while shots are not mandatory, they are highly recommended
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“They push the importance of prevention over treatment, and
that’s a good thing because they want to prevent infectious
diseases whenever possible,” Ogburn said.

Architecture Week features film, forum and lecture
The Joint Constituency Council of Architecture’s Architecture
Week began Monday with a general body meeting. They discussed events
planned for the week and the proposed Plus Minus grading system.
“It’s kind of a time for a little bit of extra education
and an excuse to socialize,” Megan Rorie, council president
and architecture senior said. “It’s also a way to get
information out.”
Upcoming events for the week include a retrospective lecture on
the history of the architecture department, a movie night showing
My Architect and a burger burn with drinks available at happy hour
prices, Rorie said.
A Faculty Forum, where Jeremiah Spoon, council vice president and
architecture graduate student, will present discussion topics to
architecture faculty.
