Social work toy drive ends today, donations still taken

Social work student groups are wrapping up their toy drive today.

Students are encouraged to donate toys for underprivileged children, said Chanelle Eastman, Social Work Constituency Council president.

She said students can drop new toys off in any of the labeled drop-boxes around the Social Work Complex. If a box cannot be found, toys may be taken to any office in social work and they will be given to the appropriate people, said Eastman.

Collected toys will be sent to the Fort Worth-based Cowboy Santas group, which distributes donated toys to children in North Texas.

Eastman said the toy drive is an extension of the help social work students provided to hurricane evacuees.

“Basically, we were looking for something to help the community,” she said.

For information, call Eastman at 832-282-0736.

Free engineering finals study session tonight

The Society of Women Engineers and the Association of Computing Machinery will hold a study session from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Room 106 Nedderman Hall. The session is open to all engineering students.

Civil engineering senior Andrea Wilson said the purpose of the study group is to get students to study during dead week. She said students can ask questions and get help before it is too late.

“Everyone usually waits until the weekend to study,” she said.

For information, call Roshini Chandran 817-272-3588.
