Students and faculty are needed to be extras in a promotional video
Friday through Sunday as part of the new university branding campaign.
Today is the deadline for students to sign up to participate in
the video, “Maverick Manifesto.” Those interested should
e-mail video@uta.edu to notify the production staff about their
availability over the weekend. Those who sign up must attend, Public
Affairs Director Bob Wright said.
University Marketing and Communications offices are working with
J. Walter Thompson, a Dallas advertising agency, and a production
company on the video. The ad agency has also helped with the new
university logo design.
The video showcases two students’ journeys from high school
to UTA. The finished product will debut Feb. 15 at the new university
brand launch event. The video may also be shown at special events
and university orientations, said Lynn Handley, vice president for
communication.
Participants need to wear or bring jeans, slacks, dress shirts,
a book bag, notebook and pen. For the Saturday morning shoot, students
need to wear jackets. No clothing with collegiate logos is allowed.
“We want to involve as many as we can,” Handley said.
Featured students are Allyson Arnwine, Ms. UTA and English senior,
and finance freshman Tarek Elijzi. Other students will be extras.
No speaking parts are involved, and the video will be narrated.
Students who participate will receive a DVD copy of the finished
video in late February.
Arnwine, who previously auditioned to be featured in the video,
said the video goes hand-in-hand with the new university branding
and the new definition of a Maverick.
The video will help current students better understand what a Maverick
is, she said.
“In the past there hasn’t been a concrete definition,”
Arnwine said.
Future or prospective students would also benefit from the video
by helping them understand the advantages of being a Maverick and
what it stands for, she said.
“It will give them a glance into what their lives could be
like if they chose to come to UTA,” Arnwine said.
Friday through Sunday, the production crew will need a certain number
of students at each filming location. Snacks will be provided for
participants.
Handley encouraged students to bring their study material because
there will be some downtime.
