Summer business study abroad deadline
Monday
Monday is the deadline to reserve a spot in the College of Business
Administration’s Study Abroad program in France. The initial
deposit of $900 is due by 5 p.m. Feb. 16, a business college spokesperson
said.
The summer semester spent in Pau, France, will be the fifth such
outing for the college. More than 50 students have enrolled since
the program was introduced in 2000.
Students must take a minimum of six semester credit hours of business
courses to participate.
The package includes courses offered at the university’s tuition
standard rates and instruction is provided by English-speaking professors.
Limited financial aid is available.
“In the past, students have said it is a life-changing experience,”
said undergraduate adviser Linda Wilson.

Students to participate in national math competition
More than 100 “Mathletes” — middle school students
competing in a national math league — will converge on Nedderman
Hall on Feb. 21 for jousts of algebra, probability, statistics and
geometry.
Competitors train for months for the competition, which is sponsored
by the National Society of Professional Engineers and the National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics. ESPN broadcast the 2003 national
Mathcounts competition.
According to the program’s Web site, Mathcounts aims to increase
interest in mathematics through competition, build problem-solving
skills and channel top students into the engineering and computer
science industries.
About 6,000 schools and a half-million students each year vie for
prizes such as trophies, scholarships and trips.
