Texas school districts
to accept résumés at fair
A career fair for education students will be from 9 a.m. to noon
Tuesday in the University Center Bluebonnet Ballroom.
More than 25 Texas school districts will have representatives available
to speak with students about credentials and vacancies at their
schools.
Louann Schulze, education assistant dean for student affairs, said
students should dress professionally and bring résumés.
All schools will accept résumés, and some schools
will have vacancies available. Schulze said some students will have
the opportunity for on-site interviews.
The fair is not limited to university students, and all education
majors are encouraged to attend.

Championship’s strongest link to be determined today
The final round of the Weakest Link championship is at noon today
in the University Center Rio Grande Ballroom. Each of the eight
teams is composed of three students and a faculty member.
Four teams will compete in the third annual event sponsored by the
College of Science. Teams will answer general trivia and science
questions with a 20-second time limit to answer. Chemistry associate
professor Carl Lovely is the game’s host.
“Dr. Lovely brings the atmosphere to the game because he acts
like the host who was on NBC,” said Lori Norris, Science special
program coordinator. He makes comments back and forth sparring with
the contestants.”
More than 300 students attended the preliminary round last week.
Science staff will dress as cheerleaders to pump up the crowd.
“The game has become quite popular with students because of
the funny names they make up for their teams,” Norris said.
“One of the teams is called Anatomically Correct, and some
of the teams wear costumes.”
