Seminar to inform about
UTA’s academic services
Multicultural services will hold a free seminar Monday to inform
students about what academic services are available on campus.
The seminar will be at noon in the University Center’s Bluebonnet
Ballroom.
Representatives from the financial aid office, counseling and career
services, the math and writing labs and S.O.A.R. will speak at the
seminar. Janaya Williams, student assistant for multicultural services,
said the orientation is geared toward new students who missed orientation
in the beginning of the semester. They will learn about office locations
and what services each organization has to offer.
Williams said the seminar will also be useful to any students who
want to learn about what resources are available to help them with
their classes.
She said free box lunches will be provided for students who attend.
Door prizes will also be given out.
The seminar is expected to last about an hour followed by students’
questions.

5-week soccer season kicks off with 45 teams
The first indoor soccer game of the semester will be Sunday in room
103 of the Activities Building.
The game starts at 1:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 6:30
p.m. All games will be played on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays said Chris Muller, assistant director for intramural sports
and sport clubs. Admission is free.
Muller added that 45 teams have registered to play, most of them
from student groups.
“Indoor soccer at UTA attracts a wide variety of students,”
he said. “We get a lot of groups and a lot of international
students.”
Teams must pay a $20 registration fee, which he said is the main
source of funding. Any remaining cost is made up for through student
service fees, he added.
Muller said there will be a five-week season followed by a week-long
playoff to determine the champion team.
