Founders Day festivities include
speeches, tours
Today marks the university’s 108th birthday and its first
Founders Day celebration. Festivities will begin at 11:45 a.m. on
the University Center mall.
The event is sponsored by Student Congress, the Alumni Association,
the UTA Ambassadors, EX.C.E.L Campus Activities and the Office of
the President. Speakers will include interim President Charles Sorber,
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and SC President Josh Warren.
Seth Ressl, Student Activities program coordinator, said the celebration
will include speeches on the university’s past and future.
UTA Ambassadors and alumni will give historical tours of the campus.
“We’ll actually do a happy birthday celebration,”
Ressl said. “There’ll even be cake and punch.”
Administrators hope the day will become a tradition, he said.
