Coffee hour today includes international
teas, treats
Multicultural Services will hold its fourth Global Grounds International
Coffee Hour of the semester from 4 to 5 p.m. today in the University
Center Palo Duro Lounge.
The coffee hour, now in its sixth year, will provide an assortment
of international teas, coffees and treats for free.
International Program Coordinator Julie Uzdavinif said teas such
as green, black, chi from around the world will be available.
Local pastry shops will provide global treats as well.
“We always try to find interesting foods,” Uzdavinif
said. “We like to provide something sweet and something salty
to appeal to everyone’s tastes.”
Music from several countries will be playing through out the hour
as well.
Uzdavinif said that because most international students do not have
transportation, it is difficult for them to go to local coffee houses.
“It’s a great opportunity for international students
to interact with each other outside of a classroom setting,”
she said.

Student organization to hold origami session Friday
Students can learn to fold paper into cranes and other animals at
noon Friday at an origami session.
The International Students Organization will sponsor the Japanese
Art of Origami in the University Center Palo Pinto Room. The event
is free and open to the public.
Sociology graduate student Yuki Manabe will lead the event. Manabe
learned origami in Japan and is the organization’s treasurer.
The organization’s president, Tania Ray, said the event is
taking the place of the group’s regular meeting.
The marketing senior said the new students they recruit will help
plan and organize events for International Week in the spring. Last
year’s International Week celebrated its 25th anniversary
with about 425 attendants.

In “Coffee hour today includes international
teas, treats,” International Program Coordinator Julie Uzdavinis’
name was misspelled. Also, the Global Grounds Coffee Hour was held
by the International Office, not Multicultural Services.
“Student organization to hold origami session
Friday,” should have said International Week celebrated its
26th anniversary in the spring.
